My name is Jandra, and I’m a freelance journalist and author based in Nashville. After graduating from Huntington University in Huntington, Indiana with a B.A. in History, I went on to receive a full-ride scholarship to earn my M.A. in Modern British History from the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom.
While I spend most of my days writing (and reading) books, I’m also a speaker, freelance journalist, and creativity coach. I’ve worked with a variety of brands to help them build and grow an awesome brand online.
Connecting with people is my passion, and I love working with young adults to help ignite their passion for learning and succeeding despite the odds. My writing has been published on HelloGiggles, Brit + Co, Greatist, EliteDaily, Fangirlish, and more.
My dream is to help people live a full, creative, and happy life.
I’m obsessed with sharing my expertise on writing, books, health and fitness, dedication, risk-taking, and passion for learning and achievement with your audience.

How did you start writing?
I started writing poems and coming up with stories when I was very young. I’ve been writing for ages, but I started “formally” writing when I was 12 and discovered poetry. That turned into songwriting, then comic writing, then screenwriting. During college, I did a lot of nonfiction writing thanks to my two degrees in history, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to pursue journalism or a more creative career. I sat on an idea for my next screenplay for a few years when I discovered National Novel Writing Month. A friend urged me to try it with her, and voila! I fell in love with writing books.
Are you accepting new clients?
I’m also a freelance writer and journalist. My work has been published by Healthline, Greatist, HelloGiggles, Brit + Co, EliteDaily, and more.
What’s your fandom?
Marvel. It’s fairly common knowledge that I love both the comics and the MCU, and Loki is my spirit animal.
Want to know if I like a certain show/movie/book/band/etc? Just ask!
What’s your Hogwarts house?
Gryffindor, obviously. I sometimes test Slytherin, depending on my mood, but I’ve come to terms with the fact that Hermione Granger and I are basically the same person. I am indeed a bushy-haired, insufferable know-it-all.
What are you doing with your life?
Who knows? Jk — I’m currently living in Nashville with my husband, Conlan, and our two dogs. We have a husky named Leila and a German Shepherd named Porter.
I spend a lot of time on my passions — writing, reading, making YouTube videos, lifting weights. However, when I’m not doing those things, I’m usually eating, watching movies, playing games (video games or board games), or hanging out with friends.
If you’re ever in Nashville and want to grab a cup of coffee, hit me up.
You give a lot of advice about publishing. Are you qualified to write about books and the publishing industry?
Yes! I have worked in the industry for several years, so I’ve been around the block. I used to work for a midsize publisher, where I was the director of marketing, and I was also the digital marketing director for a literary publicity firm.
I’ve spoken at conferences, including IBPA’s Publishing University, and I am a published author. I contributed to My Publishing Journey, which is a fantastic book that helps guide authors through the publishing process. My debut novel, Fragile, is available now in paperback and ebook.
I’m also in the progress of writing a pretty kickass new book that spells out the publishing process from A to Z. You can read it now on Wattpad.
Well, I’ve done a lot of cool stuff over the years. I used to live in England, and I still travel extensively. I’ve been all over the US, and I’ve also been to the Philippines, Turkey, Greece, and Italy.
